Inno3D GeForce GTX 285 Overclock edition

One of the smaller board partners for NVIDIA is Inno3D. We have reviewed many of Inno3D's products in the past as well .. and we feel they make quality products plus always do their best to get you the best. For example their iChill series took everybody by surprise and has been a nice success ever since they started it.

Next to the IChill and regular versions of their product, they also have an "OVERCLOCK" series, which we are reviewing today.

Much like the other AIBs, Inno3D will bundle their card with everything you need, including a 6-pin power connector converters, HDMI adapter and SPDIF cable.

The card is obviously reference based, yet is tested and at default "tweaked" for you.

  • Core clock: reference 648 MHz | SSC = 702 MHz
  • Shader clock: reference 1476 | SSC = 1476 MHz
  • Memory clock: reference 1242 | SSC = 1269 MHz

As you can observe from the clock frequencies, there is something unusual going on. As a policy Inno3D does not overclock the Shader domain. So the ROP domain got a 50 MHz boost and the memory a petit 27 MHz (x2) increase, yet the shaders are left at a default clock. With that fact in mind, one can discuss if this product is actually overclocked. I say no .. and instead call it "slightly tweaked". So please bare in mind then when you opt to purchase this product, the Shader domain is not overclocked at all. And that's where the majority of the overclocking performance is to be found. Of course you can grab our Rivatuner and OC the shader domain yourself though.

So it's not a huge deal, but certainly Inno3D will stay behind the competition a little this way. Otherwise Inno3D's bundle is very complete and comes with a full game as Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts is bundled with this graphics card. The card itself jumps out just from the looks alone, a golden sticker is on there .. ogh and it's reflective alright :) The nice folks from Inno3D are offering you a two year warranty with this graphics card.

Good stuff, let's have a look at Inno3D's offering with the help of a photo shoot.
